Chartered Insurance Institute
Executive Director, Member Engagement
Role Introduction
The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) is the professional body dedicated to building public trust and confidence in the insurance and financial planning professions. With a global reach spanning hubs in London, Hong Kong and Dubai, and a diverse international membership, our work sits at the heart of the modern economy. Insurance and financial planning underpin economic resilience, enabling people and businesses to invest, grow and recover when things go wrong. At a time of profound change, from technological disruption and climate risk to economic pressure and social vulnerability, the need for trusted, ethical and highly skilled professionals has never been greater. We develop practitioners and practice that people can depend on, delivering our mission through relevant learning, insightful leadership and an engaged global membership of more than 125,000 professionals committed to high standards of competence and ethics.
We are now seeking an exceptional individual to join the Institute as our new Executive Director, Member Engagement. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and operating as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, this Executive Director will be accountable for strengthening the value, influence and experience of our global membership, ensuring members feel supported, connected and proud to belong to their professional body. The remit encompasses leadership of our membership strategy, member experience, volunteer networks, and the support of both the CII and Personal Finance Society Boards, alongside the delivery of high-quality engagement across our professional communities in the UK and internationally.
The successful candidate will bring significant senior leadership experience from a membership, professional body or member-centred organisation. They will have a proven track record of designing and delivering engagement strategies that drive growth, retention and satisfaction, underpinned by robust data, insight and evidence. With strong influencing and stakeholder management skills, they will work credibly with members, volunteers, Boards, industry partners and external stakeholders. An agile and strategic leader, they will strengthen the Institute’s membership proposition, elevate the member experience and help reinforce public trust and confidence in the insurance and financial planning professions.
