RSA
Trustees
Role Introduction
For over 270 years, the RSA has brought together restless minds to solve the challenges that matter. From shaping the Great Exhibition to coining the term “sustainability”, the RSA has long sat at the intersection of creativity, commerce and social change. Today, with a global Fellowship of nearly 30,000, it is resetting for its next chapter: becoming the home of creativity applied for the good of all.
At this pivotal moment, the RSA seeks two Trustees to join its Board and help shape that future. The RSA’s Fellowship is its greatest strength and its greatest opportunity. We are looking to appoint a Trustee with expertise in membership who can provide strategic oversight and mentorship as the organisation transforms its membership from a passive network into an active, engaged movement. Working closely with the Director of Fellowship and the Chief Executive, this person will challenge and support the organisation to redefine what Fellowship means in a modern, global context.
Philanthropy represents a significant untapped opportunity for the RSA. With a powerful mission, a distinguished heritage, and a remarkable home in central London, the foundations are in place. What is now required is the strategy, networks and leadership to unlock this potential. We are therefore looking for a Trustee with experience in fundraising, major giving or donor development in a complex institution. Working with the Head of Fundraising, this person will help shape strategy to build the RSA’s philanthropic capability from the ground up. As Trustees, both of these people will contribute fully to the governance of the RSA, ensuring it delivers against its charitable objectives, maintains financial sustainability, and safeguards its reputation and values. All Trustees are expected to become Fellows of the RSA. The time commitment for these roles is envisaged to be approximately 1-2 days per month.
Saxton Bampfylde Ltd is acting as an employment agency advisor to the RSA on these appointments. Applications should be received by noon on Friday 5 June.
