Role Introduction

The Low Carbon Contracts Company (LCCC) exists to mobilise private sector investment in secure, low carbon energy. In doing this, they help Britain overcome fundamental barriers to achieving its Net Zero obligations and make decarbonisation affordable for the future. LCCC is a private limited, operationally independent company owned by the Secretary of State for the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero as the sole shareholder. Since it was set up in 2014 the business has facilitated over £77.5bn of private sector investment in renewable electricity generation. LCCC is increasingly working with government and investors to facilitate the growth of new decarbonisation technologies, which means the business is diversifying into new sectors and growing rapidly.

LCCC is now seeking an excellent new Non-executive Director to join the board in 2026. The appointed candidate will chair the Audit, Risk and Assurance Committee. The non-executive directors support the Board Chair and the Executive Team in the development and implementation of long-term strategy and ensuring the highest standards of good governance.  This is a brilliant opportunity to impact on an organisation that has a meaningful and positive impact on the planet.  Few roles can say the same.

LCCC is seeking candidates who are qualified accountants with recent and relevant financial experience. This experience could have been gained in business, in the public sector, or in professional practice. Given the nature of LCCC’s work, experience of working with technology, including cyber security, data management and payments/settlement systems, would be particularly relevant, but is not essential. Whilst previous non-executive experience can be a plus, it is not a necessity. This person will bring a collegiate and progressive approach to Board membership.
