Turning Point
Chief Information Officer
Role Introduction
Turning Point is a leading health and social care organisation with a long and distinctive history, supporting people to live the lives they choose. Founded in 1964 and now operating nationally, it provides a wide range of services across mental health, learning disabilities, substance use, sexual health and wellbeing. Today, the organisation supports over 200,000 people each year, employs more than 5,000 colleagues and operates across 270 locations, with turnover approaching £200m. Its work is grounded in a clear purpose: to tackle health inequalities, deliver person-centred care and achieve lasting impact for individuals and communities. As demand grows and services evolve, Turning Point continues to navigate a complex and changing landscape with ambition and care.
Against this backdrop, Turning Point is seeking a Chief Information Officer to join its Board and Executive leadership team (Operating Board) to steer the organisation’s digital, data and technology agenda. This is a pivotal leadership role, responsible for delivering an integrated strategy that enables high-quality, sustainable services at scale. The CIO will lead organisation-wide transformation, embedding digital innovation into frontline delivery and ensuring data and technology become powerful enablers of performance, insight and impact. With responsibility for modernising the technological environment and supporting innovation including AI and emerging technologies, the role will help position Turning Point to respond to sector pressures and opportunities over the next three to five years.
The successful candidate will bring significant senior leadership experience in digital, data or technology roles within large, complex, regulated environments, alongside a strong track record of delivering large-scale transformation. They will combine strategic clarity with practical delivery, and demonstrate deep understanding of areas such as data and analytics, cloud-based architecture, cybersecurity and emerging technologies. A collaborative and values-driven leader, they will be comfortable operating at Board level, building trusted relationships and translating complex concepts into clear, actionable insight. They will be motivated by the opportunity to improve outcomes for vulnerable people, bringing both resilience and pragmatism in a dynamic, resource-conscious context.
