United Kingdom Debt Management Office
Managing Director, Technology
Role Introduction
The United Kingdom Debt Management Office (DMO) plays a critical role at the heart of government, delivering, among other things, the UK's debt and Exchequer cash management objectives on behalf of HM Treasury and supporting its role as a key participant in the UK’s financial markets.
We are seeking an accomplished and adaptable technology leader to join the DMO as Managing Director, Technology. This is a rare opportunity to shape the future technology strategy of an organisation responsible for delivering secure, resilient and highly available services to meet the UK government’s financing requirements.
Reporting jointly to the Deputy CEO, Operations and the Deputy CEO, Financing Strategy, the Managing Director, Technology will provide strategic leadership across the DMO's technology function. Working closely with senior colleagues, the successful candidate will develop and deliver a forward-looking technology agenda that balances innovation with operational resilience and supports the DMO's mission-critical objectives.
The role combines strategic technology leadership with the opportunity to modernise the technology estate, drive innovation, strengthen organisational capability and lead a high-performing team through the next phase of the DMO's development and evolution.
We are seeking a senior technology leader with proven experience of operating in a complex, operationally critical or highly regulated environment. You will have a track record of setting and delivering technology strategy; leading significant technology and process transformation, including the safe and effective adoption of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI); and maintaining secure, resilient and business-critical technology operations and services within a financial markets environment. You will be a highly inclusive and effective leader who has built high-performing teams and strengthened organisational capability, with the personal values, public service ethos, credibility and communication skills to influence senior and Board-level stakeholders and manage critical external suppliers and partners.
Experience of operating within financial services, capital markets or other time-critical environments would be an advantage.
This is an opportunity to shape the technology agenda of an organisation with a unique public purpose, working at the heart of government and the UK's financial markets.
