Black Country Living Museum is one of the United Kingdom’s leading open-air museums and an independent educational charity based in Dudley. As the guardian of the rich industrial, social and cultural history of the Black Country, the Museum welcomes hundreds of thousands of visitors each year to its nationally significant collection, immersive historic environments and acclaimed learning programmes. Approaching its 50th anniversary in 2028 and following the successful delivery of its transformational Forging Ahead development programme, the Museum continues to champion the stories, people and communities of the Black Country while inspiring pride today and possibility for the future.

The Museum now seeks to appoint a new Chair to provide exceptional leadership to the Board of Trustees and support the delivery of its strategic vision, We Are the Black Country. Working closely with the Chief Executive, the Chair will ensure the Board is effective in setting organisational direction, safeguarding the Museum’s long-term sustainability and acting as an influential ambassador with stakeholders, partners and supporters. Candidates will bring strategic judgement, collaborative leadership, strong governance experience and the ability to build relationships across diverse audiences. A commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion, together with the credibility, networks and advocacy skills required to support fundraising and organisational growth, will be essential.
