The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) is the professional body dedicated to building public trust and confidence in the insurance and financial planning professions. With a global reach spanning hubs in London, Hong Kong and Dubai, and a diverse international membership, our work sits at the heart of the modern economy. Insurance and financial planning underpin economic resilience, enabling people and businesses to invest, grow and recover when things go wrong. At a time of profound change, from technological disruption and climate risk to economic pressure and social vulnerability, the need for trusted, ethical and highly skilled professionals has never been greater. We develop practitioners and practice that people can depend on, delivering our mission through relevant learning, insightful leadership and an engaged global membership of more than 125,000 professionals committed to high standards of competence and ethics.
We are now seeking an outstanding individual to join the Institute as Executive Director, Learning. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and operating as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the postholder will be accountable for shaping and delivering the CII’s global learning, qualifications and assessment strategy. This role is central to ensuring the CII continues to set the benchmark for professional competence across the insurance and personal finance sectors, strengthening public trust through high-quality, future-focused learning pathways. The Executive Director, Learning will lead the transformation of the CII’s learning and qualifications portfolio, ensuring it remains relevant, digitally enabled and commercially sustainable. Working closely with industry, employers, regulators and partners, the role will ensure the CII’s offer anticipates emerging skills needs and reflects global best practice.
The successful candidate will bring significant senior leadership experience in professional learning, qualifications, accreditation or assessment-led organisations. They will demonstrate a strong track record of developing and delivering large-scale learning strategies, including digital and technology-enabled models, alongside experience of quality assurance, regulatory standards and commercial performance. An agile and strategic leader, they will be comfortable operating at Board and Executive level, leading complex transformation and inspiring high-performing, multidisciplinary teams.
