Role Introduction

Art Fund is the charity that connects museums, people and art by supporting acquisitions, enabling institutions to enrich their collections, amplifying the sector through its Museum of the Year award and creative events, and championing public access through the National Art Pass Membership Scheme. Since its conception by the activist Christiana Herringham in 1903, Art Fund has existed as an independent charity made possible by its growing community of over 148,000 members and a network of over 1,000 museum partners. Thanks to its supporters, Art Fund gives millions of pounds every year to help museums buy and share works of art.

Art Fund is now seeking candidates to join the board as trustees, particularly those with backgrounds in marketing and digital leadership, or philanthropy and commercial experience. The trustees will contribute to the effective leadership of the board, developing a constructive and supportive relationship with the director and acting as an ambassador for the charity. Candidates will bring a passion for the arts, strong communication skills, an ability to contribute to board level discussion and wider policy and strategy development, and a willingness to represent and advocate for the Art Fund in the public arena.
