The Dubai Campus of Heriot-Watt University is a key part of the University’s global footprint and a major contributor to its international academic mission. Located in the vibrant education and innovation ecosystem of Dubai, the campus delivers a world-class learning environment and an ambitious portfolio of teaching and research activity. As the University accelerates its strategic development in the region, it is seeking to appoint a new Deputy Provost to help lead the next phase of growth and academic excellence.

Working closely with the Provost, the Deputy Provost will hold a pivotal leadership role, guiding academic delivery and fostering a high-performance culture across the Dubai Campus. The postholder will provide strategic oversight for teaching, learning, research, and academic quality, ensuring alignment with Heriot-Watt’s global standards and ambitions. They will cultivate strong relationships with senior colleagues across the University’s international campuses, and enhance partnerships with industry, government, and regional stakeholders to further strengthen the campus’s academic reputation and research impact.

The Deputy Provost will deputise for the Provost when required, chair key committees, and contribute to the effective governance and academic leadership of the campus. They will play a prominent external role in representing Heriot-Watt Dubai within the UAE’s higher education landscape, championing excellence, innovation, and student success.

The successful candidate will be an accomplished senior academic leader with a strong track record in teaching, research, and academic management. They will bring experience of leading diverse teams, driving academic quality, and navigating complex stakeholder environments. A collaborative approach, sound judgement, and the ability to engage and influence at senior levels will be essential. Experience in international higher education or transnational education settings would be highly advantageous.
