Role Introduction

The Royal Society of Arts seeks an exceptional Director of Fellowship to transform our global community at a pivotal moment in our 270-year history.

Since 1754, the RSA has been a home for creativity and progress, bringing together artists, entrepreneurs, reformers and technologists to turn ideas into action. From planting 60 million trees to creating the Great Exhibition and coining the word "sustainability," our Fellows have included Benjamin Franklin, Marie Curie, David Attenborough, Judi Dench, and Nelson Mandela. With HRH The Princess Royal as President, we're now sharpening our focus as the home of creativity for the good of all.

Reporting to the Chief Executive David Joseph, and sitting on the Executive Leadership Team, you'll shape and deliver a bold membership strategy that places our nearly 30,000 Fellows at the heart of our future. Leading a team of 15–20, you'll oversee a global Fellowship community generating over £5m annually, transforming it from traditional membership into a vibrant, engaged movement.

We are looking for someone to drive growth, strengthen retention, and create meaningful opportunities for Fellows to contribute their expertise. Working collaboratively across events, programmes and content teams, you'll ensure Fellowship initiatives align with our wider strategic priorities and enhance our influence in the UK and internationally. The ideal candidate will bring significant senior experience from within an organisation with membership at its heart, with proven success delivering income growth and engagement at scale. You'll be commercially astute and insight-driven, confident using data and CRM systems to shape strategy and measure impact. As an inspiring leader and natural ambassador, you'll build trusted relationships across diverse networks and champion inclusion in all aspects of Fellowship engagement.
