Following a significant governance transformation approved by members, AAT has implemented a refreshed governance structure aligned with its values and the Charity Governance Code. At the heart of this framework is the Trustee Board, AAT's highest decision-making body, comprising a balanced mix of member and independent trustees operating within a skills-based model to guide the organisation's long-term success.

AAT is now seeking an outstanding individual to serve as Chair of the Trustee Board. The Chair will provide independent leadership to the Board, ensuring the highest standards of governance, accountability and strategic oversight. Working closely with fellow Trustees, the President, the Chief Executive and Executive Leadership Team, the successful candidate will help shape and oversee the delivery of AAT's 2030 strategy and vision in support of its charitable objectives. 

Candidates should bring substantial board-level leadership experience, including experience chairing boards or committees, alongside a strong understanding of governance and the responsibilities of trusteeship. They will be skilled at fostering constructive challenge, building consensus and navigating complex stakeholder environments. The successful candidate will possess sound judgement, integrity and credibility, and will be committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion in both governance and organisational culture. Experience within a membership organisation, professional body or charity would be advantageous, though applications are welcomed from candidates across sectors.
