Role Introduction

City of London School (CLS) and City of London School for Girls (CLSG) are seeking to appoint an exceptional Deputy Head (City Schools) to a newly created, strategically significant role working across both schools. This is a rare opportunity to lead joint educational initiatives and shape the next phase of collaboration between two schools renowned for academic excellence, exceptional pastoral care and rich co-curricular provision. The postholder will play a central role in delivering the shared vision for the City Schools.

From September 2026, the primary focus will be the development and delivery of an innovative shared Sixth Form model, including preparation for the opening of a new Sixth Form hub in the heart of the City in 2028. The Deputy Head (City Schools) will help define the scope and nature of this provision and shape the future Sixth Form experience for pupils at both schools. Working closely with the Heads of CLSG and CLS, the Director of Projects and professional services teams, the postholder will lead strategic collaboration across the schools, contribute to partnership work, and play an active role in cross-school senior leadership.

The successful candidate will bring significant whole-school leadership experience, a strong track record in project and change management, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. Flexibility, resilience, creativity and strong interpersonal skills are essential. Experience of sixth form leadership, working across settings or in start-up environments would be advantageous.
