Role Introduction

FODO Group is the UK’s leading association for primary care eye and hearing care providers and for eye care providers in the Republic of Ireland. With our members delivering over 18 million eye exams annually   and vital hearing services nationwide, we champion access, innovation, and excellence in community healthcare. As demand rises and hospitals face growing pressures, we advocate for integrated, accessible eye care and audiology services to be delivered closer to home through primary care-based models, to maximise use of health resources, prevention and public health outcomes, empowering professionals, influencing policy, and putting people first to ensure no one is left behind.

FODO Group is now looking for a dynamic leader to join our senior team and Board as our next Director of Strategy and Policy. In this role, you will work closely with our members to shape the Group’s strategic direction and policy priorities for the eye care and audiology sectors. Working in close partnership with the Director of Policy & Regulation and the wider team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring these priorities are developed and delivered effectively. You will help shape evidence-based policy priorities aligned with FODO Group’s mission, working with members and key stakeholders to effect change and maximise impact. You will also raise political awareness of sight and hearing loss as major health challenges, ensuring policy is informed by clinical insight while contributing to the Group’s wider strategic leadership and governance goals.

The successful candidate will be a strategic and influential leader with a strong track record in policy development, team leadership, and delivering impact at a senior level in a relevant setting, having the knowledge and skills to work closely with public healthcare bodies. They will combine analytical skills with the ability to navigate complex healthcare environments, using strong communication and influencing skills to engage effectively with key stakeholders and drive change. Committed to inclusion and improving community health outcomes, the ideal candidate will bring sound judgement, financial and commercial acumen, and impeccable personal and professional integrity. Politically astute, emotionally intelligent, and resilient, they will exercise sound judgement and lead with empathy, diplomacy, and a clear sense of purpose.
